Amy Barnes ConsultingAction Research

This is a grand title for what Otto Scharmer would term 'landing strips' for the future. The last couple of years have been fruitful in terms of experimenting and experiencing different projects to see how I might manifest some of the insights gained from the Leadership Retreat I attended in July 2006. My action research interests are as follows:

  • Gestalt psychotherapy

I embarked on Gestalt psychotherapy training in 2007 and I am currently a trainee psychotherapist working at a branch of MIND. My training has enabled me to sharpen my awareness of my own processes as well as allowing me to deepen my understanding of listening, contact, dialogue, presencing, awareness and working phenomenologically.

  • 'Presencing for Leading Profound Change'

I continue to be moved and excited by the work at the Presencing Institute. I feel it is an important development given the state of our organisations, societies and the world at large.

I am looking to connect with people who are interested in coming together to form a 'practice group' to further the Presencing work developed by Otto Scharmer and the Presencing Institute which includes Embodied Presence Practice.

For Embodied Presence Practice work, see my blog.

  • Photography as a medium for capturing essence/ photogratherapy?

This is a collaborative effort with Wendy. A project in it's infancy. She has submitted a proposal for funding trial work with a group of young mums. We have spoken about the function of photography- when we have our photos taken- what is our intention? When we see ourselves, who and what do we see? Is it possible to capture 'who I really am'? I have been very inspired and moved by the work of Walter Schels and Beate Lakotta 'Life before Death' that was exhibited at the Wellcome Collection in April 2008.
